Dental Amalgam Fillings not toxic...Just Ugly!

A recent report in the Journal of the American Medical Association confirms what dentists and researchers have been saying for years. Silver-Mercury amalgam fillings are safe and effective for treating decay. Cosmetic dentists use tooth colored composite resin as an esthetic alternetive to metal fillings. Advantages of the resin materials is their better appearance and the fact that they are physically bonded to the tooth and can actually strengthen a tooth. They are also more easily repaired. Composite resin fillings are much more technique-sensitive than amalgam fillings. A poorly placed resin can begin to leak and may be sensitive.
